About the Role
We're looking for a skilled Embedded Engineer to join our Technical Engineering Team. This role offers the opportunity to work on the development of cutting-edge embedded systems, with responsibilities spanning both firmware and hardware design. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, contributing to real-world products from concept through to production handover.

What You'll Do
- Design and develop robust embedded systems including firmware and hardware.
- Create and test prototypes, validate designs, and troubleshoot at component and system levels.
- Manage design release processes, including documentation, version control, and manufacturing support.
- Collaborate with teams in the UK and South Africa to ensure technical alignment and project success.
- Conduct lab testing and simulations to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Support field investigations or client visits as required.
- Participate in MOD-compliant projects (Security Clearance eligibility is advantageous).
- Contribute to R&D efforts including early-stage feasibility studies and technology evaluation.
- Ensure hardware is optimised for manufacturability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
Your Skills & Experience
Education:
- Degree (BEng/BTech) in Embedded Electronics, Electronic Engineering, or relevant work experience.(desirable)
Firmware:
- Strong C/C++ skills for embedded systems.
- Experience with microcontrollers (preferably ARM Cortex-M).
- Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git).
- Bonus: experience with Python or MATLAB.
Hardware:
- Skilled in schematic capture and PCB layout (DipTrace preferred).
- Understanding of both digital and analog circuit design.
- Familiar with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, CAN).
- Knowledge of EMC, thermal, and compliance considerations.
- Experience with FPGA/CPLD is an advantage.
Engineering Processes:
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and lab test equipment.
- Familiar with FMEA, tolerance analysis, and structured design methodologies.
- Strong documentation and system validation skills.
