A growing UK technology consultancy delivering secure, cloud-native solutions for complex client environments is looking to appoint a Lead DevOps Engineer. This position will play a key role in guiding engineering teams, shaping technical direction, and delivering scalable infrastructure and platforms that support modern software delivery.
The role combines hands-on DevOps engineering, platform architecture, and technical leadership, working closely with delivery teams and stakeholders to build reliable, secure, and scalable systems.
Role Overview
You will operate as a senior technical leader across multiple engineering initiatives, helping teams design and implement cloud-native platforms while ensuring high standards across DevOps practices and infrastructure architecture.
The position requires someone comfortable moving between hands-on technical work and higher-level architectural decision making, supporting both internal engineering teams and client-facing delivery projects.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership to engineering teams delivering cloud-based platforms and services.
Work collaboratively with delivery teams and stakeholders to design scalable, reliable technical solutions.
Lead DevOps and platform engineering best practices across projects.
Design and implement modern infrastructure platforms and deployment pipelines.
Guide architectural decisions relating to cloud infrastructure, platform design, and engineering processes.
Collaborate with product and delivery teams to ensure solutions integrate effectively through API-driven and standards-based approaches.
Work within an Agile delivery environment, contributing to continuous improvement across engineering practices.
Provide visibility of engineering capacity and technical requirements to internal stakeholders.
Required Experience
Strong background in DevOps, cloud engineering, or platform engineering roles.
Hands-on experience with technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and AWS.
Practical experience working within Agile software delivery environments.
Experience leading technical initiatives or acting as a senior technical authority within engineering teams.
Good understanding of cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and scalable architecture design.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and stakeholders.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability across complex technical environments.
Desirable Experience
Exposure to projects involving machine learning or AI-enabled platforms.
Experience mentoring engineers or helping grow engineering teams.
Background working in fast-paced technology environments or scaling organisations.
Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience.
Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or similar.
