Start Date: Early January 2026 (to allow a handover period)

About the Role:
We're representing a leading solar engineering company working across the UK utility-scale solar sector. The team specialises in providing field engineering, testing and inspection services, and technical consultancy for large-scale solar PV assets.
They're now looking for a Field Services Engineer to support the delivery of on-site technical services and ensure continuity within the Field Services team as they transition into the new year.
This is a varied, hands-on role covering everything from electrical testing and commissioning support through to client interface and quality assurance. It would particularly suit an experienced electrician or solar engineer with strong technical understanding of large-scale solar farms.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out electrical testing, inspection, fault-finding, and commissioning on utility-scale solar PV systems (AC & DC).

  • Operate and maintain specialist mobile testing equipment (full training provided).

  • Prepare RAMS, reports, and documentation using MS Teams and the MS Office suite.

  • Act as an Authorised Person for LV isolations and permits to work.

  • Support the delivery of projects across multiple sites, often staying away from home during the week.

  • Work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards.

Candidate Requirements:

  • City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent Level 3 electrical qualification.

  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.

  • Hands-on experience with large-scale solar PV installations.

  • Strong understanding of electrical safety, isolations, and permits to work.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Teams, Word, and Excel.

  • Full UK driving licence (towing experience advantageous).

  • Flexible to travel and stay away from home (typically 2-4 nights per week).

  • Passionate about renewables, quality, and safety.

Ideal Background:
Candidates may currently be working for an O&M provider, EPC, or solar testing and commissioning business. We're looking for someone proactive, technically competent, and comfortable managing their own workload in the field.
