Company Overview
Our client is a leading solar engineering company specialising in project life-cycle services for utility-scale solar. They offer engineering consultancy, EPC support, and advanced inspections for operational solar assets. With over 200 sites supported, they're recognised for module diagnostics, quality management, and solar asset optimisation. The company operates mobile testing labs and rigs, using technologies such as Electroluminescence (EL) and flash testing. The team is young, dynamic, and purpose-driven.


Purpose of the Role
This role involves operating cutting-edge test equipment to gather forensic-level data on solar PV systems. The successful candidate will conduct testing assignments across the UK using mobile labs and EL tripods. The position includes both field testing and office-based data handling. It requires regular UK travel and overnight stays (2-4 nights/week), with all expenses covered. A company vehicle is provided for towing equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate mobile test labs for solar PV inspections

  • Conduct in-situ EL image testing (mainly at night)

  • Scan serial numbers using specialist software

  • Assist with component exchange projects

  • Upload and sort data, support report preparation

  • Perform site inspections and testing assignments

  • Manage small on-site teams (e.g. module pickers)

  • Identify improvements in testing and client value

  • Support wider business activities collaboratively


Candidate Profile

Essential Attributes:

  • Interest in or awareness of solar PV systems

  • Willing to work away from home midweek

  • Comfortable with night shifts (EL testing occurs at night)

  • Experience/confidence towing trailers and using generators

  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather

  • Able to grasp technical processes and do repetitive tasks reliably

  • Computer literate (data handling, file transfers, reporting)

  • Clear communicator with a client-facing attitude

  • Health & safety focused with a proactive work ethic

  • Passionate about renewable energy and working in a values-driven team

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Drone operation

  • Infrared thermography (IR)

  • Understanding of solar DC circuitry

  • Towing experience


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence

  • CSCS card

  • SMSTS or IOSH Health & Safety qualification

  • Towing endorsement (highly beneficial)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Teams)
