Full Stack Developer (PHP)
Location: Bristol (Hybrid 3 days a week in office)
Salary - £55,000

We're working with a growing SaaS company that develops a highly regarded platform used by universities to manage research and teaching activities. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add two experienced Developers to their collaborative engineering team based in central Bristol.
This role is ideal for a Full Stack Developer with strong PHP back-end experience, who enjoys building robust applications and contributing to product design and usability. You'll work closely with a friendly and experienced development team, helping to shape and enhance a platform used across the higher education sector.
The team values clean, secure, well-structured code and often favours a procedural programming style and lightweight solutions over heavy frameworks. If you enjoy understanding systems deeply and building reliable software from the ground up, this could be a great fit.
The Role
- Develop and maintain full stack web applications, with a focus on PHP back-end development
- Build and enhance user interfaces using JavaScript and React
- Work with relational databases such as MySQL, SQL Server or PostgreSQL
- Contribute to product design, architecture and usability improvements
- Collaborate within an agile development environment
- Maintain high standards for security, performance and code quality
Key Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' experience in full stack web development
- Strong PHP back-end development skills
- Experience with JavaScript and React
- Solid understanding of HTML/CSS frameworks
- Experience working with MySQL or other SQL databases
- Experience using Git for version control
- Strong understanding of secure development practices
Desirable
- Good eye for usability and interface design
- Technical writing or documentation experience
- Awareness of networking or server administration
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, friendly team environment
