Head of Data

On behalf of a key client, we are recruiting for a Head of Data.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a modern data function and shape the future of how a business harnesses analytics to drive growth, innovation, and competitive advantage. As Head of Data, you'll report into the CTO and take full ownership of the data strategy, roadmap, and team delivery.
The role
You'll manage and grow a multidisciplinary team (Analytics Engineer, Data Analyst, Platform Architect), set the strategic direction for data initiatives, and ensure the delivery of scalable, high-impact data products. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with high-level strategic influence.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing data team
- Define and deliver the organisation's data strategy and roadmap
- Oversee the design, optimisation, and governance of a modern data stack
- Ensure delivery of reliable data products, pipelines, and analytics solutions
- Champion a strong data culture across the business
- Partner with product, engineering, finance, and commercial teams to unlock insights and opportunities
- Present data insights and recommendations directly to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Drive adoption of new tools, technologies, and processes that enhance analytics maturity
What we're looking for
- Significant experience in data leadership roles (Head of Data, Data Lead, or similar)
- Strong technical background in data engineering, analytics, and governance
- Proven ability to scale and manage multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at C-suite level
- A track record of aligning data initiatives with commercial and operational objectives
- Strategic thinker who can balance innovation with delivery
Tech stack exposure (nice-to-have)
You don't need experience with everything, but familiarity with some of the following would be valuable:
- dbt
- Snowflake
- Tableau
- Fivetran
- AWS
- Python
- GitHub Actions
