IT Security Engineer - Hybrid - 1 day a week on site (UK-Based)

Location: West Midlands - Hybrid

Overview

A well-established organisation within the West Midlands is looking for an experienced IT Security Engineer to join their growing IT Security Team. This role plays a critical part in maintaining and enhancing the organisation's infrastructure and endpoint security, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure, network security, and endpoint protection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and manage secure cloud and network infrastructure
  • Investigate and resolve security incidents; document findings and remediation
  • Conduct security audits and assessments to identify risks and enforce best practices
  • Collaborate with internal teams to maintain and update security policies and procedures
  • Stay current on industry threats, trends, and technologies
  • Maintain thorough documentation (including incident reports and root cause analyses)
  • Contribute to regulatory compliance and annual security testing exercises

Experience Required

  • 5+ years of experience in IT security engineering or related roles
  • Deep experience with Microsoft 365 security configuration and Azure security features:
    • Azure Security Centre, Entra ID, Azure Policy, Key Vault, DDoS Protection, etc.
  • Endpoint security: Microsoft Defender & Defender XDR
  • Network infrastructure security: Firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, segmentation
  • Experience with SIEM tools (Exabeam preferred)
  • Scripting & automation using PowerShell, KQL, Python, or similar
  • Conditional Access configuration and hardening of Microsoft servers in Azure

Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications are desirable: CISSP, CISM, CCSP, AZ-500
  • A degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is preferred
