Location: UK (Fully Remote)

Our client, a growing cybersecurity consultancy, is seeking a CHECK certified Penetration Tester to join their growing security team. This is an exciting opportunity to work fully remotely on high-profile engagements, delivering CHECK-compliant penetration tests for public and private sector clients.

About the Role

As part of the team, you will perform penetration testing and vulnerability assessments across networks, infrastructure, and applications in line with NCSC CHECK standards. You will produce professional reports and provide actionable recommendations for remediation.

This role is ideal for a technically strong tester who is comfortable engaging with clients remotely, has a meticulous eye for detail, and thrives in a collaborative virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver CHECK-compliant penetration testing across internal and external networks, applications, and infrastructure

  • Conduct scoping, planning, and execution of penetration tests

  • Produce clear, accurate, and actionable reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Communicate findings and support remediation efforts

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging threats, exploits, and attack techniques

  • Ensure all engagements adhere to ethical and quality standards

Essential Requirements

  • Current CHECK Team Member (CTM) certification

  • Commercial penetration testing experience

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Networking and protocols (TCP/IP, common services)

    • Web application security (OWASP Top 10)

    • Linux and Windows environments

  • Experience with common testing tools (Burp Suite, Nmap, Nessus, Metasploit)

  • Excellent written communication and reporting skills

  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable Skills

  • Additional certifications (e.g., OSCP, OSWE, CREST CRT/CCT, CPSA)

  • Cloud security testing experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Red teaming or adversary simulation experience

  • Scripting or programming skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
