Quantity Surveyor - Commercial & Industrial Projects

Location: somerset (up to 2 days working from home)
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000

About the Company:
The client is a leading UK building and engineering contractor delivering high-quality projects across commercial, industrial, and M&E sectors. Their portfolio spans a wide range of major infrastructure and commercial projects, providing a wide variety of opportunities to gain experience on complex, high-value works.

The Role:
We are seeking a motivated Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of M+E within industrial projects within the somerset region. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career while contributing to the financial success of multiple projects. The role includes managing costs, supporting contracts administration, and collaborating closely with the project team, including Contracts Managers and Senior Commercial Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the commercial management of M+E and industrial projects

  • Prepare and maintain project cost reports, forecasts, and valuations

  • Support contracts administration and subcontractor procurement

  • Review subcontracts, prepare applications, and ensure timely payments

  • Contribute to final account preparation and settlement

  • Provide commercial input during pre-construction and risk management stages

  • Coordinate and participate in project commercial meetings

  • Assist with dispute avoidance and resolution

  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and contractual obligations

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally on commercial and industrial projects

  • Knowledge of construction contracts (NEC, JCT, or similar)

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

  • Competent in producing cost reports, forecasts, and valuations

  • Understanding of CIS, payment processes, and subcontractor management

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Commercially aware with good negotiation ability

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with COINS or similar software desirable

  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work across multiple projects

  • RICS membership is a plus but not essential

This role is ideal for a Quantity Surveyor with commercial and industrial project experience, looking to develop within a supportive regional team while gaining exposure to a major UK project.
