Role: Data Engineer (Palantir Foundry)

My client, a well-established global data and AI consultancy, is looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer to join their growing Insurance practice. This role suits a data engineering professional with strong experience in modern cloud-based data platforms and hands-on expertise with Palantir Foundry and AIP.
The Role:
You'll play a key role in designing, developing, and optimising scalable data solutions that enable advanced analytics, AI/ML initiatives, and business-critical decision-making. Working alongside data architects, product teams, and business stakeholders, you'll help deliver enterprise-grade data products that drive transformation across the insurance sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance data pipelines and data platforms
- Develop and manage data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows within Palantir Foundry
- Create and optimise Foundry datasets, pipelines, and applications to support analytics and AI-driven outcomes
- Develop interactive business applications using Foundry Workshop, Slate, and custom front-end solutions
- Build robust applications and integrations using TypeScript, Python, and PySpark
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities into data workflows and support deployment of intelligent applications using Foundry AIP
- Implement best practices for data quality, governance, security, and performance optimisation
- Contribute to CI/CD processes, DevOps practices, and cloud-native deployments
- Work within Agile delivery teams to deliver complex data engineering initiatives
Essential Experience:
- 3-7 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Platforms, or Big Data environments
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, including data ingestion/integration, Pipeline Builder, data transformations, Foundry datasets, and Foundry applications/Workshop
- Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark, and TypeScript/JavaScript
- Experience building custom applications and user-facing solutions within Foundry
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Experience with major cloud provider services (e.g., storage, ETL, serverless compute, data warehousing, and AI/ML services)
- Experience working with modern data technologies, including Snowflake
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
- Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience with Palantir AIP and AI-enabled Foundry applications
- Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Palantir Foundry certification or significant project delivery experience
- Previous experience within the insurance industry
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale digital transformation initiatives
