Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to system architecture definition, system documentation, and requirements development as part of a cross-functional engineering team.
- Support system analysis and risk management activities, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and safety compliance.
- Select and specify commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components, interpret supplier documentation, review and approve specifications, manage obsolescence planning, and ensure compliance with applicable health and safety, hazardous area, functional safety, and engineering standards.
- Lead the development and review of electrical schematics and provide expertise in relevant industry compliance requirements.
- Produce cable single-line diagrams, termination diagrams, and interface documentation while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Develop communication interface specifications, support network equipment selection, and contribute to cybersecurity compliance for industrial control systems.
- Support the design and layout of electrical panels and general arrangement drawings in collaboration with engineering teams and suppliers.
- Participate in electrical panel assembly and testing activities.
- Oversee hardware and sensor selection, ensuring designs comply with applicable standards while providing technical guidance to colleagues.
Skills, Qualifications, Experience & Characteristics
Essential
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Applied Science, or equivalent industry experience.
- Significant experience within a relevant engineering sector.
- Experience supporting engineering projects throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Practical knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols such as Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, and NMEA.
- Strong verbal, written, presentation, organisational, and time management skills.
Desirable
- Proficiency with electrical and control system CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, EPLAN, or equivalent).
- Experience using MATLAB/Simulink, object-oriented programming languages, and Python.
- Experience applying marine or industrial classification and compliance standards (e.g. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, or equivalent).
